The Mission

MY Project USA was founded by Executive Director Zerqa Abid in 2014 to support and empower immigrant and refugee youth living in and around Columbus, Ohio.

The Challenge

In the wake of the COVID pandemic and amid rising racial tensions, MY Project USA had an urgent need to expand its reach and capacity through additional grant funding, as a way to increase its impact on immigrant and refugee youth.

The Journey

MY Project USA partnered with Grants Plus to achieve its grant funding goals. Our team researched available grant opportunities and identified more than 20 grant funders whose priorities aligned with My Project USA’s vision. Within a few months, we had developed a Grants Game Plan for MY Project USA based on this research.

The Results

Within just a few months, MY Project USA received a national foundation grant to support youth programs as well as a local foundation grant for one-third the amount higher than we requested. In the spring of 2022, MY Project USA received $1.2 million to transform their youth programming and triple its impact. So far, our partnership has resulted in grant awards totaling approximately $2.5 million.
