The Mission

Since 1939, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati (BGCGC) has been changing lives and building great futures for youth who need a safe and positive place to spend the most vulnerable times of the day—immediately after school and at night, when supervision is often lacking and temptations are great.

The Challenge

When BGCGC suddenly lost two key members of their fund development team, they faced the risk of missing critical grant deadlines and losing out on potential revenues.

The Journey

After partnering with Grants Plus to fill an immediate staffing gap and keep their grants program active and on schedule, the partnership was so successful BGCGC brought Grants Plus on as its long-term, full-service grants team. The onset of the COVID pandemic added a uniquely challenging economic environment and uncertainty with funder relationships and available grant opportunities. However, the long-term partnership enabled BGCGC to strengthen its grant seeking competencies and implement a strategy for achieving sustainable success.

The Results

By the end of the first year, BGCGC achieved a 2,235% return on their investment (ROI), and during the peak of the pandemic achieved revenues more than $660,000 over budget.

Over the lifetime of the partnership, BGCGC experienced an annual ROI of over 353% with a grant win rate of over 81%. Together, BGCGC and Grants Plus have secured over $3 million in grant funding to help save and transform the lives of at-risk youth to become productive adults and break the cycle of poverty.
